Hiring a DG Set in Ranchi: The Checklist Before You Sign
Most DG rental disputes come from things nobody asked about upfront. Run through this list before the set leaves the yard.
Capacity and the load it must carry
- Has anyone calculated your actual load, or is the capacity a guess?
- What happens at peak — wedding dinner service, concrete pour, shift change?
- Is there a backup arrangement if the set fails mid-event?
Fuel: whose, how much, how billed
- Is diesel included in the rate or billed on actuals?
- Who refuels during a long hire, and how is consumption verified?
- For multi-day hires: is there a fuel log?
Operator and maintenance
- Does the hire include a trained operator?
- Who responds to a breakdown at 11 pm — and how fast?
- What is the maintenance schedule during a long hire?
Cabling and distribution
- Are cables, distribution boards and earthing included or extra?
- Who is responsible for cable routing across the site?
- Is the setup tested under load before handover?
Site logistics
- Can the set physically reach the placement point? Check access.
- Silent / canopied set for residential areas, hospitals and events
- Placement on firm, level ground with ventilation and safe fuel storage
Commercials
- Get the rate, fuel terms, overtime and damage clauses in writing
- Advance, billing cycle and payment terms agreed upfront
- What counts as a 'day' — 8 hours, 12 hours, or 24?
